If you ask us gals at Events by 7, hunting for the perfect venue is one of our favorite things to do in the wedding planning process. Once you’ve found the perfect venue {or what you think to be the perfect venue} don’t sign on the dotted line until you’ve reviewed their terms, rules, and regulations. Yup, ask them to see the contract before you pay the deposit.

Top Seven reasons for wanting to review the contract:

  1. You want to see the policy in regards to hiring a cake designer to supply the cake or desserts. Suppose you have the perfect cake designer in mind to not only make your wedding cake, but you would also like to have a grooms cake, or perhaps a cup-cake bar, a smores station, or even a dessert station. Your dreams can be squashed when you find out the venue only allows you to bring in the just the wedding cake no additional desserts.
  2. You want to see their policy for decorating the space; wouldn’t you like the decor to match your personality, style, and taste? We believe it’s your wedding and it should not be cookie cutter {if you don’t want it to be}. If you want to have pipe and drapes behind your sweet heart table, specialty linen, or long tables with chivari chairs, by every means find a venue that will allow this, after all it’s your wedding day and your hard earned money.
  3. You want to be on the same page for the bar & alcohol policy.
  4. You want to see if they require you to have liability insurance {this is common, but it’s best to know upfront}.
  5. Let’s not forget to ask about the time alloted & the days available to hold your rehearsal. Who wants to have a rehearsal a week or two befor their wedding?!
  6. Don’t forget to ask if you’re required to use their preferred vendors. We believe that your team of wedding professionals should match and mirror you and yours stlye, personality, budget, and etc.
  7. Oh yeah, don’t forget about your grand exit…Will they allow you to use sparklers, confetti, rose petals, rice, you get the drift :-)
